hariansurabaya.com | To understand Mustaqim Nur Cahyo’s strength today, badminton fans must look back to 2015. The year when his name began to be discussed at the Indonesian national level.
As a young player who is a mainstay of the Galaxy Sidoarjo club, Mustaqim has a very busy match schedule, moving from one city to another to collect points in the National Circuit (Sirnas) event.
His track record demonstrates active participation in the National Championships in East Kalimantan, Lampung, West Java, and North Sumatra. His results are quite impressive. He reached the semifinals of the 2015 East Java National Championships and was runner-up in the prestigious Daihatsu Astec Open 2015. These achievements ultimately earned him a national ranking of 11th in the U-19 category at the time.
“2015 was the year I felt most passionate. Ranking 11th nationally was an incredible source of pride for a local kid like me,” Mustaqim said proudly.
These years were crucial in shaping his character. The rigorous training and intense competition in East Java provided a strong mental foundation for his career both at home and abroad.
His success in bringing the East Java team to become runner-up in POPNAS XIII 2015 is also one of the memories he keeps as proof of his devotion to his hometown before finally flying to the world stage.
“The experience of sleeping in the sports hall to chase national points is what made me as mentally strong as I am now. Without the training in Sidoarjo, I wouldn’t have made it this far,” he concluded. (ist)
